Pre-Inspection Meeting
A PIM is conducted between clients and vendors post-purchase order release to finalize:
- QAP/ITP and Quality Plan
- Inspection schedule and critical test points
- Certification and regulatory compliance
- Review of documentation, drawings, and subcontracted services
Pre-Inspection Meeting (PIM) is a formal gathering held before the commencement of manufacturing or major fabrication activities, typically involving the client, supplier, quality inspectors, and relevant stakeholders. The purpose of the PIM is to align all parties on the technical requirements, inspection and testing plans, quality control procedures, documentation expectations, and delivery schedules.
It ensures clarity on contractual obligations, mitigates misunderstandings, and sets a clear framework for inspection checkpoints during production. By proactively addressing potential issues, the PIM plays a critical role in preventing delays, ensuring compliance, and maintaining quality throughout the project lifecycle.
